TURKISH LANGUAGE EXAMS:

1. PLACEMENT EXAM

The Placement Exam, held twice a year considering the course selection processes at the beginning of the terms, is conducted to determine the level at which students will participate in Turkish language courses such as TUR 301/302/303/304 for undergraduate students and TUR 501/502/503/504 for postgraduate students, as part of the Multilingualism Policy. The test section, which serves as a general assessment, measures students' skills in writing and speaking. In this context, the student's proficiency in Turkish is determined. Students who do not know Turkish at all do not need to take this exam; they start from the basic level.

2. EXEMPTION EXAM

The Exemption Exam, administered twice a year considering the course selection processes at the beginning of the terms, aims to determine the levels of students who have previously received Turkish education and to identify exemption situations from compulsory courses under the Multilingualism Policy. The test section, serving as a general assessment, measures students' skills in writing and speaking. In this context, the student's proficiency in Turkish is determined. Students who do not know Turkish at all do not need to take this exam; they start from the basic level.

NOTE: Students who wish to be exempt from the specified courses by taking the Exemption Exam must not have selected the course they wish to be exempt from through the Student Information System (OBS) in the semester they are taking the exam. Otherwise, exemption exams will be considered invalid.

3. PROFICIENCY EXAM

The Turkish Proficieny Exam is conducted two or three times a year according to the student admission process. It is a comprehensive evaluation exam designed to assess the student's ability to use Turkish effectively in various contexts. The exam utilizes detailed and versatile measurement tools to assess the student's four language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. In this way, the student's language proficiency is measured comprehensively. Students wishing to take the exam can do so by paying the specified fee and registering. Exam results, certified within the framework of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, are communicated to the faculties to which the students are affiliated.
