General Information - Arabic

     - Languages are not ends but only a means to the sources of knowledge; therefore, content-based instruction and communicative approach are followed.

     - Classrooms consist of a maximum 12 students to maximize the efficiency of the teaching.

     - Majority of our teaching staff are either native speakers of the languages they teach or have native-like competence in the target language.

     - The program's development scheme and content levels adhere to the rigorous standards set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), ensuring a comprehensive and effective learning experience.

     - Our commitment to excellence includes ongoing evaluation of educational practices and teacher performance, allowing us to adapt and enhance the program based on continuous feedback.

     - Recognizing the unique needs of each student, our program places special importance on providing personalized lessons and tailored achievements to optimize the learning journey.

     - We believe in the power of interactive activities to enhance language skills. Our program actively engages students through a variety of activities, fostering an immersive and dynamic learning environment.

     - Beyond language proficiency, our program offers students the opportunity to closely examine cultural dimensions. This cultural exploration enhances their academic studies, providing a well-rounded understanding of the Arabic language and its context.

     - Our program prioritizes the student as the focal point of the educational process, positioning the classroom teacher as a facilitator whose role is to assist students in advancing their language proficiency. The teacher is not the central figure in the classroom dynamic.

     - Our program articulates a well-defined vision for the student's language development throughout their enrollment. This vision is realized through a thoughtfully crafted curriculum, complemented by supporting activities and worksheets designed to reinforce the prescribed coursework. The student receives close monitoring and support at every stage of their learning journey.

Module 1 (A1)

 

     This module caters to both beginners (Novice Low-Novice Mid) and elementary learners (Novice High) aiming to enhance their foundational communication skills in Arabic. It comprehensively emphasizes all language skills—listening, reading, speaking, and writing—covering standard Arabic morphology, phonology, and basic syntax. Throughout the program, participants practice and memorize single words and phrases for effective communication on familiar topics. By the course's conclusion, learners gain the ability to present information about themselves and familiar topics using a variety of words, phrases, and memorized expressions. Additionally, they can write lists and memorized phrases, recognize and understand some spoken or written familiar words and phrases, and handle short social interactions in everyday situations. The course serves as a building block for future advanced communication skills in Arabic.

 

Module 2 (A2)

     This A2 pre-Intermediate course focuses on developing basic communication skills in Arabic. Learners will be able to participate in conversations on a variety of familiar topics using simple sentences, handle short social interactions by asking and answering simple questions, and present information using a series of simple sentences. They will also be able to write briefly about most familiar topics and understand the main idea in short, simple messages and presentations on familiar topics. The course emphasizes understanding the main idea of simple conversations that learners overhear and short and simple texts when the topic is familiar. By the end of the course, learners will have developed foundational skills to communicate effectively in everyday situations.

 

Module 3 (B1.1)

 

      This module is designed for intermediate-level (B1) students. Throughout the course, participants will develop their skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. By the end of the course, learners will be able to participate in conversations on familiar topics, handle short social interactions, make presentations and write about a variety of familiar topics, and understand the main idea in messages, presentations, and texts related to everyday life, personal interests, and studies. The course emphasizes the use of connected sentences and series of sentences to express ideas effectively.

 

Module 4 (B1.2)

 

     This module is designed for upper-intermediate (B1+) students. Throughout the course, participants will develop their abilities to speak, listen, read, and write. By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently participate in conversations on familiar topics and talk about events and experiences in various time frames, describe people, places, and things, and handle social interactions in everyday situations, even with unexpected complications. Learners will be able to make presentations on school, work, and community topics, and write about these topics in a generally organized way. Additionally, they will be able to understand the main idea of messages, presentations, and texts related to everyday life, personal interests, and studies.

 

Module 5 (B2)

 

     This module is designed for Advanced (B2) learners. Throughout the course, participants will refine their abilities to speak, listen, read, and write. By the end of the course, learners will be able to actively participate in conversations about familiar topics, including those that go beyond their everyday life. They will be able to speak in an organized way and with some detail about events, experiences, people, places, and things. Additionally, they will be able to handle familiar situations with unexpected complications. Learners will also be able to deliver organized presentations appropriate to their audience on a variety of topics, including events and experiences in various time frames. They will be able to write on general interest, academic, and professional topics, including organized paragraphs about events and experiences in various time frames. They will have a strong understanding of the main idea and supporting details in organized speech and in a variety of genres on familiar topics, even when unexpected information is expressed. Furthermore, learners will be able to follow stories and descriptions of some length and in various time frames and genres.
