The students, whose reading, listening, speaking and writing skills were measured with a placement test before the program started, were placed in classes suitable for their level. The program started with the signing of the Language Commitment on Monday, July 18. By signing the Language Commitment, the participants promised that they would speak only English throughout the program. The participants had the opportunity to receive a quality education suitable for their level in classes with a class size of 6-10 people. Curriculums were designed to improve our students' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Our participants, whom we hosted in the campus and dormitories of our university for two weeks, were exposed to the target language by engaging with English throughout the program.
IHU Dil Kampı has been made more enjoyable with workshop activities, sports activities, trips and academic activities apart from daily lessons. The students had the opportunity to explore and develop their various talents in drama, canvas bag painting, origami, photography and clay workshops. The participants have participated in a different sports activity every day; they contributed to their physical development with activities such as swimming, archery, horse riding, football, volleyball and basketball. The students had a fun time while increasing their cultural and historical knowledge with trips such as Dolmabahçe Palace, Istanbul Naval Museum and Bosphorus tour, which were held with an English-speaking guide at the weekend. In addition to language skills, participants had the opportunity to develop their social skills by establishing new friendships and to get information about university life and undergraduate programs by meeting with valuable lecturers and students of Ibn Haldun University.
After two enjoyable and productive weeks, IHU Dil Kampı ended on Friday, July 29, with the closing program which was held after the participants had their Versant exam.
